CFO/Controller Services

CFO/Controller Services

Many companies interchange the titles of Controller and CFO (Chief Financial Officer). In general, a company’s controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the accounting control system and the financial reports. Besides being responsible for the accounting functions, a CFO focuses on treasury (banking), financial analysis, strategic planning and long range business issues.

As a former controller and CFO, I can provide your company with two separate types of controller or CFO services:

  • Part-time – Without incurring the expense of hiring a full-time controller or CFO, I can work part-time with a company’s current accounting staff to properly close the books, prepare monthly financial statements and assist in banking relations and strategic long range planning as needed. In some instances this can be done in one to three days per month. Oftentimes, as the company’s own personnel and the management reporting cycle become more efficient, my services can be reduced to one day per month or on an as needed basis.
  • Interim – Sometimes with the sudden departure of the top financial person or in other extraordinary situations, a company needs immediate full-time help in reestablishing or maintaining their financial reporting system. In those situations, I can provide temporary full-time controller or CFO services, assist in recruiting a permanent replacement and ease the transition for the new controller or CFO.

As either a part-time or interim CFO, you will benefit from experienced financial management support for less than the cost of hiring a full-time bookkeeper or accountant.
